Interview Tips:

Interviewing is a skill that can be improved by a few fundamental rules. Your success lies in the first impression with the Client.

  1. Wear a conservative business suit.
  2. Personal Hygiene - Keep after shave / cologne to a minimum. Carry breath mints and DO NOT CHEW GUM!
  3. Be on time or even early.
  4. Bring extra copies of your CV and a notebook for notes.
  5. Body language -- listen, listen, listen! Make plenty of eye contact. Leaning forward as you listen shows your interest, as do a few nods to show you are listening.
  6. ""Ask for their business card. This will make it easier for you to write your "thank you" notes.
  7. DO NOT BRING UP SALARY. Let the client bring up this subject.
  8. Ask open-ended questions such as:
    - How many patients would I be expected to see in a day?
    - What is the percentage of managed care in the area?
    - How long has the group been in practice?
    -What is the call schedule?
  9. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL while dining with the Client.
    Even if they drink, refrain.
  10. Express your thanks for the interview, and ask for the job. If they offer you a contract, it puts you in control of your offer; you can say yes, no, or negotiate the contract.
