Usually people with high levels of DHA do better on memory related tasks and vocabulary tests, even as they age. Look for tuna, salmon, mackerel, herring, and trout. Two 6 oz servings of fish are recommended for optimal nutrition.
 
For young kids you want to make eating healthy fun for them. If they don't like vegetables, try cooking them differently or serving them with a sauce your child likes. You can also try cutting foods into different shapes like stars, dinosaurs, etc. so that the kid can have fun while eating healthy.
 
Avoid using hydrogenated oils for cooking, and watch out for them in packaged foods. These oils provide no nourishment for your skin or your body.
