Job Description

There is a health care facility in a small village of Rhode Island near the Connecticut state border that is looking for a Family Practice physician. The hired physician would be responsible for providing the full range of primary care, urgent care, and acute care services to the population this facility serves. These responsibilities include examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with acute and chronic medical problems and for coordination of preventative health services. The physican will serves as medical back-up and consultant to mid-level practitioners and may precept medical students and residents. Furthermore, the physician participates in administrative & clinical meetings as scheduled by the executive director and medical director. Family Practice physicians are also expected to share rounding responsibilities at the local hospital. On average, this position will require seeing about 21 patients per day.

Required Qualifications:

1.      M.D. or D.O. with Board Certification (Board eligible accepted for first year of employment) in one of the following specialties: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine;

2.      Rhode Island Medical Licensure;

3.      Completion of a three year residency in primary care specialty;

4.      Hospital staff privileges at a designated institution


Location Description

This job opportunity is being offered in a small village in Rhode Island that is located near the Connecticut state border. The village has a lovely historic area and a very charming feel. This is a family friendly village with many younger residents. The area has ponds for fishing and great land for hiking and camping. The village itself has a population of about 7,000; however, the health care facility located in the village draws patients from many surrounding areas. Furthermore, the city of Providence, RI is only a 30 minute drive, Boston is about a 70 minute drive, and New York City is only 2 hours away! This is a great opportunity to serve a smaller community and still be within a short distance of city life.
