The primary service area in 2004 comprised approximately 89,000 residents and is anticipated to increase to 102,000 residents by 2009. Medical Center is a 99-licensed bed acute care hospital. In addition to acute care medical service, the hospital offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient surgery, a rehabilitation unit, intensive are unit, laboratory, CT Scan, MRI, home health, and a health care clinic with extended hours. Major renovation and construction projects over the past several years have added a completely new surgical center with five new operating rooms and 20 patient care rooms including post-anesthesia care units, pre-op, and step-down rooms. In addition, a new admissions area and front lobby centralized the registration process and expanded the waiting area. State-of-the-art equipment have created new services for the patients including more advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment capabilities and a host of new diagnostic tests in the areas of cardiology, surgery, and emergency medicine.
